A Visit from the Daini Tokyo Bar Association

In August 2026 a delegation of bar leaders from the Daini Tokyo Bar Association (NIBEN) visited Perth.

On 24 August McLeod Fisher & Hamdorf arranged tours of the Federal and Supreme Courts for the delegation, giving them an insight into the Western Australian court system. The group then joined our Principal Director, Glen McLeod, and members of the Law Society for morning tea.

NIBEN is Japan’s second-largest bar association, with over 4,000 members and a reputation for pioneering initiatives, from establishing the country’s first arbitration centre to drafting Japan’s first basic gender equality program for the legal profession.

The visit was a great opportunity to build connections between the Western Australian and Japanese legal communities.
