Glen McLeod

With nearly 50 years in the field, Glen has consistently been recognised by Doyles Guide as one of Western Australia's preeminent environmental and planning lawyers. He was named the Law Society of Western Australia's Lawyer of the Year in 2016 and was recognised amongst the world's leading environmental lawyers by Who's Who Legal in 2006.

 After many years as a senior partner in major national and international law firms, Glen established Glen McLeod Legal (now McLeod Fisher & Hamdorf) in 2012 as an environmental and planning specialty practice. The firm is consistently recognised as ‘First Tier’ in its area by Doyles. The practice has subspecialisations in development law, valuation, land acquisitions, injurious affection compensation contamination and climate change law.

Glen analyses and advises on complex issues in the above areas, litigation and the strategic management of approval processes. He is also known for his interest in passing on and extending his knowledge through lecturing, research and contributions to planning and environmental law publications. He is a former board member of the Environmental Protection Authority and an Adjunct Professor at Murdoch University. He is also a Council member of the International Bar Association's Section on Energy, Environment, Resources and Infrastructure Law (SEERIL), and co-chairs the Asia-Pacific SEERIL Group, established to encourage geographic diversity and cooperation within the International Bar Association.

 Glen is a former State and National President of the National Environmental Law Association and is Chair of the Law Society of Western Australia's Environment, Town Planning and Local Government Committee. He has served on a number of boards, including the Environmental Protection Authority, the Botanic Parks and Gardens Authority, the Waste Authority, Fremantle Ports, and the Urban Development Institute of Western Australia.

 Glen holds a Bachelor of Jurisprudence and a Bachelor of Laws from the University of Western Australia.
